Meet Sarah

Hi lovelies, my name is Sarah Sherlock and I created The Victorian Petal to bring my passion of floral design to weddings in the Baltimore/Annapolis/DC area.
I love flowers. I love how fleeting they are and how each one is completely unique. I love their color, form, and scent. I love how they are beautifully imperfect and I try to showcase that in every design. Inevitably, my favorite flower out of a bunch tends to be the one with the most personality.
My husband, a horticulturist, first suggested I attend floral design classes. He was right--after taking that first class, I was hooked! I went on to get my certification in floriculture, studying with a designer classically trained in Holland and an AIFD certified designer. After getting my certification, I began freelancing with two amazing florists and, eventually, decided to make my passion a career.
For me, floral design is more than a career--it's my life! Our home and garden are filled with flowers, so that whether I'm working or relaxing, I'm surrounded by floral inspiration. I love pouring over pictures and talking with clients about their ideas and visions for their wedding day!
Getting to the nitty gritty about what makes you, you is quintessential. The most important aspect of what I do is to make florals a fun and easy experience and to bring new and creative ideas to make your wedding uniquely yours.
